So I am looking at an old 2011 MacBook for 1080p video editing on Adobe premiere and photoshop, I am just wondering if an old 2011 mac would still be good? I have been told these are good cheap laptops that can get work done but my main concern is with the CPU being a 2nd gen i5.

These are the basic specs:

8gigs of ram

256 GB ssd (I know it's small but its workable)

i5 2415 2.3 ghz

Mac 10.12 Sierra

If you have any better laptop suggestions (pc or mac) that are in the sub $500 range that would be good for what I need to do it would be appreciated.

You're not going to be doing much editing at any good speed on something with a 2nd gen Core i5. It might be doable, but I"m not certain.

Main System: Phobos

AMD Ryzen 7 2700 (8C/16T), ASRock B450 Steel Legend, 16GB G.SKILL Aegis DDR4 3000MHz, AMD Radeon RX 570 4GB (XFX), 960GB Crucial M500, 2TB Seagate BarraCuda, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations/macOS Catalina

Secondary System: York

Intel Core i7-2600 (4C/8T), ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3, 16GB GEIL Enhance Corsa DDR3 1600MHz, Zotac GeForce GTX 550 Ti 1GB, 240GB ADATA Ultimate SU650, Windows 10 Pro for Workstations

Older File Server: Yet to be named

Intel Pentium 4 HT (1C/2T), Intel D865GBF, 3GB DDR 400MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB (HIS), 80GB WD Caviar, 320GB Hitachi Deskstar, Windows XP Pro SP3, Windows Server 2003 R2

It'll be fine as long as you're not doing anything crazy. I was using an old Pentium M when I was working on Photoshop (CS5 and CS6)  several years ago.
