The metal piece looks like a pin for mounting your HD without screws. Which is convenient, if not truly necessary IF you have properly secured your HD already.

The black rubber grommet (if that's what it is) is probably a vibration/shock absorber for your HD... which is VERY good to have for the longevity and stability of your drive. I'd recommend putting those back if possible. Look for similar parts in other areas of the drive cage / mounting points and use them as a guide.

See the image below... note the silver pins and white rubber grommets. If your parts are the same type of thing, this is how they are placed:

This could definitely be the case, in which case, it's a pretty trivial issue. But you did say from the HD bay, so I'm inclined to think they are HD mounting pins.

The black thing is the dampener while the screw is to screw the drive in

I see... I suppose if your drives are properly mounted and you aren't experiencing any unusual noise or vibration in the drives... you might not need them.

If you are asking what I would do in your situation... I'd probably try to put them back :/ Or at least hang on to them as I have a habit of losing small parts on occasion, and extras are always a welcome thing :)

Any suggestions on how to stick them back in? Pure force does not seem to do the trick

Hmmm... pure force is certainly something to be applied sparingly, so your caution is warranted.

I couldn't say the 'best' way... maybe if you could share a picture showing the bracket or what you're trying to push them into I might have a better idea of what sort of force might be required.

Well, they're suppose to look like this, but the the head of the silver piece is circular and the black piece isn't the most flexible thing in the world

Can you push the black piece into the mount point without the silver pin in it (maybe using the empty space to squish the grommet)? Then seat the pin from the back of the mount point?

Sorry, just guessing here. Some problems are harder to solve via the internet :P But I'm giving it my best.
