Hello all,

I have an x99 system with a 5820k, 16GB RAM and GTX 1080ti. So it's good hardware. But as of recent, I've noticed that it started slowing down. I investigated and noticed that my RAM usage was up to 80+%. I did some reading online and found out that Chrome uses a lot itself. Also, I looked further into the Task Manager and found that it was Chrome that was using the most out of all the applications that I had open at most times of the day. I've tried changing the Registry stuff, restarting works, but only for a day or two, I downloaded CCleaner and ran that multiple times and works for a day or two as well, and I've even switched browsers from Chrome to Opera in hopes that that would help, also didn't do much. I was just wondering if someone has any tips or fixes that will help with this issue. I stream and game as well as Ethereum mine with my PC, so not the most heavy of workloads throughout the day.

Thank you for reading!

Go to your Windows Resource manager and in the memory section, provide a screenshot of the bar graph at the bottom.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

run memtest, might be something wrong, doubt it, might be a memory leak but they're a little rare now, perhaps you have a virus or something?

Sorry I should have been more specific...
Not the OVERALL TAB, but the MEMORY TAB, there is a bar graph inside at the bottom showing what part of your memory is taken by hardware first before software touches it... It can at times give a clearer idea to what Windows is doing behind the scenes...

How many windows or tabs do you have open in opera?

I used to have 4, 5, or sometimes more open. But since the memory issue, I've since then tried to keep it down to a YouTube tab, my email, and one other thing I'm searching at the time. So not a crazy amount.

Yeah, I'm starting to think it might be a virus. Which is odd, cuz I don't pirate or download any sketchy things, mainly cuz I don't have any anti-virus or anti-malware software. Nor do I look up the dirty ;)xD

Yeah, I just started mining for fun, honestly. Just wanted to see what all the craze was about. Already lost myself a bit with it I think too... Lol

Is this the one you meant? Sorry, I may have a decent PC with fairly high end parts, but I'm not as tech smart as I should be. Especially for a 24 years old... :/ Lol

  • 3 weeks later...

Just wanted to let those who are still following this thread an update. It's been a while, I know. Massive procrastinator... Lol. But I seem to have fixed the RAM issue. It seems to have been a memory leak caused by the Killer Networking driver. You can bet my next build will have a board that does NOT have Killer but rather, Intel Ethernet. That's for sure!
