Hi everyone!

I have a friend who's upgrading from a laptop to a PC, mainly gaming and social media, no streaming needs.

since I'm a bit rusty about PC builds (I stopped around 2012..) I wanted a second opinion before the purchase.

1 monitor only (also any advice on it will be helpfull, 75hz would be nice but probably will end up out of budget) no problems with >5ms, an IPS would be really appreciated

We use Amazon Italy for prices and availability (it's a bit a mess because prices keeps changing every day so we add camel camel to check if we're in the low or high price range for that product)

EDIT: I found out Newegg ships in Italy too, (they have differents stocks tho) so we can go with that too. but I know I'm asking too much so just stick for the hardware and we'll get the prices from where it's cheaper)

-I wonder if 6gb of Vram aren't overkill for a mid-range gpu

-also the RAM will get another 8gb stick probably around end of November or December.

-for the CPU we were uncertain between 7400 and 7500 due to the low price difference, and I don't know how much "worth" is the extra money to get a K CPU and a Zchipset for overclocking vs actual performances (since for gaming it would be mainly the GPU, so I'd rather spend the extra 60-70€ on a GPU than on an OC CPU/Mobo combo)

-for the PSU we get a suggested 450W from the PSU calculator, but that one was the best between our final circle to choose from, feel free to pick a better one if you think it might be better quality (we don't care too much about modular or non-modular)

-also if you have any suggestion for the Headphones/mic combo, that one is the bestselling but I don't like the virtual 7.1 gimmick or the USB exit

-about Ryzen, I'm totally out of the loop about the latest updates, performance and so on.. but if you think you can get a good Performance/Price combo for the CPU/Mobo go for it.

that's it, I hope to read some helpfull suggestions!

R5 1600 + Strix B350-F is better

Pick some high speed RAM

I would take Asus GPU

does ram speed matters in DDR4 or it's unnoticeable to the average workload/gaming?

because without a Zchipset Mobo you can't get higher than 2133Mhz from what I've read on the board

Also go with a nvme drive they are as cheap as the ssd and are lot faster.

any brand in particular or anything will work?

also are there still problems with booting Windows from an M2 drive?

I have a corsair m500 that is 256gb and has a read speed of 1.5gb a second. Once I cloned the os from my ssd windows has no problem with it.

https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/nzR7VY This would be a pretty good PC that will run cool and quiet and the PSU has some headroom, so things can be added in the future and you can OC without having to worry about the PSU being able to supply the power needed, plus a PSU is most efficient when it sits in the 40-60% load area

Ram speeds matter quite a bit here, you gain FPS just by having fast ram vs slow ram.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

ok wow this is a new thing to me for DDR4 memory.

does it exist a "roof" where we can stop for frequency?(like the curve flattens and we end up paying more to get just 1-2 fps increment)

for intel the sweetspot is 2666, while for AMD it is around 2800-3000, but the kit I have is prob the best kit you can get. It has low timings and runs at 3200

Ok, thanks!

Ryzen 1500x with a B350 is the same price as the i5 7500 with a H270,

are they the same in term of performance or there's a "better" one? (still talking about Gaming) I don't know if maybe the bottleneck is more on the GPU side than the CPU past this level

EDIT: (oh btw I probably need to upgrade the Heatsink if I plan to get the 1500x since it can be OC)
