Well it was the PSU after all. I reinstalled windows on a separate HDD and it never once shut off. Also tested the SSD that has the original OS on it and it worked for 4 hours consistently without it trying to restart while under stress and running idle. Looking at the corsair RM series PSU for replacement. I'm trying to see if I could get by with he 650 or if the 750 W would be needed.

What are you powering and where are you located and buying from so I can suggest recommendations?

Glad you found the problem.

 

650W is enough for the system you outlined. In fact a 500W would be sufficient.

 

Consider a Seasonic psu.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Im not to familiar with seasoninc. Good quality PSU's? I'm also going to invest in a UPS as I've learned the perils of brown outs. Think that's how this one went out.

 

Excellent quality. One of the best psu manufacturers in the world. In fact they OEM a great number of units for other companies including many Corsair models - not the RM models though.
