Speaker mesh air flow?

If you're talking about the metal mesh, it shouldn't be too restrictive. I've been using this for several weeks now, my idle temps are in the low 30s.

I do have to open the lid when it's under heavy load, but I don't think it's the mesh's fault. The airflow is just restricted overall.

Anyway, be sure to post a build log for your wooden case. Your design looks pretty nice, I can't wait to see more. Good luck !

Thanks, man! I love your build/idea.

I'll try to create a build log in the coming week or so, once I get all the materials and tools, and design finalized. (assuming that I don't get buried with school work).

@ImadKnight If you're going to make a full front panel out of any material, I'd recommend you use anything else than a cloth-like material. Even if you managed to find one that didn't restrict airflow and actually stopped dust (which looks kind of pointless since your intake is at the bottom of your case), it would be hard to stretch it enough to make it look clean, and it would be quite fragile. I think you overestimate dust buildup and its impact on performance. You should be fine with a clean metal mesh panel, provided your other vents are well-placed and you clean your computer every few months.

A metal mesh would most likely end up being expensive here though. I've got time so I'll look around more.

@ImadKnight If you have some free time on weekends, maybe try to find garage sales in your area. I found most of my stuff there, including all of my switches and my metal mesh intake cover. You could find some nice, inexpensive parts on old radios and such. Not saying the R3 looks bad, but handmade cases are so much cooler.

Thanks for the tip. I know of a second-hand store that I frequent, which might have old speakers and such. Could probably buy a grill for pretty cheap. What did you do for the power button?

And yeah, I agree, handmade cases are the shit. :D

@ImadKnight I found a modular switch from schneider electric for 5€, which is a steal, since it costs tens of euros new.

I still have to add a power LED inside, so that I no longer need to rely on case lighting to make it shine in the dark.
