ASUS G75VX not detecting certain HDDs in SATA0

comicsansms

Heya,

The other day, I received an ASUS ROG G75VX for free.

It came with no HDDs, so I started putting in my test 500GB *Almost* dead, WD Scorpio Blue 500GB in Bay 0 (Right Bay), and it worked.

So then I put in my my known working Samsung 850evo 500GB, HGST 7K1000-1000, Seagate ST000LM024 and finally my Intel 520 180GB, none of which worked. They all work fine in Bay 1 (Left Bay), but not Bay 0 (Right Bay).

Finally, I put in a Fujitsu MHV2080BH in Bay 0 (Right Bay), and that also worked too.

What gives?

Nothing in the bios, detects it as an empty bay. The HDDs do however spin up.

No.

go through device manager and force a rescan of the sata ports.

The computer doesn't turn on with some of the drives in, and takes a lot longer with others.

Disk management could see 1TB Seagate, but wouldn't let me initialise it, kinda like an external HDD with a bad USB cable.
