What kind of GPU performance would you be looking for. $500 is a tight budget for an editing Hackintosh, considering you will blowing most of that on either an i5 or an i7 if you want the extra performance.

Something that can play MC shaders at 45 fps or so.

Cheap mATX board http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CU4L4K4/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86com-20

ATX board. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CU4L4M2/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&tag=tonymacx86com-20 Assuming you want the ability to over clock. Theres a cheaper H87 version available.

I would go with a 4670K to save money for a GPU. Get a 430w or 500w psu.

For this build I would maybe get a 650ti but that might send you over budget. A 650 would also perform well in Minecraft I suspect.

Well I was thinking a non OC part like the 4670(non K) or the 4570 or maybe even a 4440. Then I might be able to get a 650 Ti Boost or a 660.

Damn Tight budget... Should turn out good if you don't want to play any "real" games... Final Cut? Photoshop? What are you gonna use?

Adobe CC collection

Final Cut Pro

Motion

Etc.

Nvidia 6xx/7xx cards are supported natively in OS X. Thats not to say you can't get an AMD card to work. You will most likely have better stability, performance, and an easier time going green

Here is a list of compatible Haswell 4th generation processors…assuming you want to go this route. You may have a hard time finding older generations for a lower price in my experience.

BTW if you haven't poked around on this site before it has everything you will ever need for hackintoshing.
