I haven't bothered with most certs, well really any at all. My CCNA material I learnt is so old now lol.

I don't like learning for the sake of an exam, puts me off completely. I like doing stuff with a purpose and goal insight, to solve a problem or to just be generally inquisitive. Sort of compounds the issue of studying for an exam too because if I stop and I try and do it I get bored very quickly as I know most of it already but one should never take anything for granted and throw away money on an exam you'll likely fail due to lack of preparation.

If only we were in the matrix and could just download knowledge, would make things so much easier.

I know Kung Fu ;)

Downloading knowledge directly to our brains would be amazing lol.

Hmmmm how about an interface that connects with our brain. We then insert flash cards with databases on them :P

Yeah, I am only planning on starting the cert game after 10 years in the industry (I have a few degrees, so I don't really require a cert). The way I see it, I can get some alphabet soup on the resume, and use the expense of getting the certs as tax write offs.

Only cert I would actually like to get, doesn't exist (too my knowledge), somthing along the lines of "Powershell - Beginner (i use powershell like vb)", "Powershell - intermidiate (I make my own functions)", and "Powershell - Advanced (I know how to integrate with API's, Use encapsulation, OOP, etc etc)". Too often I see MSP's just use powershell as a drop in replacement for VB scripts, and there is 0 point if that is all you are going to do.

There is actually MS PowerShell courses, everyone at work did the beginner one and we got a trainer to come on site to do it.
