PC stuck during shutdown

So I went to shut down my PC today and now it's stuck on "getting windows ready. Don't turn off your computer." It's been like this for like 20 minutes now and I'm not sure what to do.

My HDD light is still blinking so I don't think the computer is completely frozen since it may still be reading something.

How long should I wait it out for?

Only 20 minutes? Give it another hour or more, if the HDD light is blinking something is happening.

It's Windows update, just let it be and it'll shutdown on it's own. If the HDD indicator stops for a long while, only then would I force it to shutdown but that's still generally not recommended.
