Jaybird X3

chris ryan

I've been looking for a good pair of wireless earbuds for under $150 AUD and have come across the jaybird X3, they seem to what I want but they do have some bad reviews. Are they worth the $140 AUD or are there better options?

thx in advance

I have a pair, so far I can say I enjoy them I really like the sound profile and they lasted already longer than the beyerdynamic Byron BTA I had before. On these the insolation on the wire, the rubber and button weared out very fast it teared itself appart in like 3 months, they worked with a bit CA glue support another month and  well now they are "water damaged" I guess.

Although I miss the magnetic drivers, it was pretty handy to just unplug them and let them snap together wearing them like a necklace when you talked to someone for a short period of time.

So far I can say I don't regret buying the x3's they last arround a whole day at work (6-7h continous useage) and charge pretty fast (I woul say less than an hour but I don't really know it for sure), over all a clear sound with enough base for my taste they sound better than most headphones I used (which aren't that many to be honest) . I like my DT 990 Pro headphones more at the desktop but for mobility they are super handy.

I have a different model, the Freedoms.

Noteworthy bad things to say: Hissing sound at low volume levels (white noise, etc.), fit is hit and miss. One day I can wear them for 8 hours, another I can't live with them for 30 minutes.

But they are by far the best IEM's I have listened to (and also the most expensive. Then again, I come from cheapo Sennheiser C300II's, so I expected that.

I quite like the equalizer feature, but it lacks basic things, such as password locking the device (so people don't **** connect and it yells "HEADPHOOOONESSSSS CONNECTED" while killing my eardrums) and disabling certain "hot keys" - I call my coworkers 2-3 times a week by mistake, because I apparently doubleclicked the pause button.

CPU: I7 4790K(4.6@1.252v)                               Case: Fractal Design Define R5 Windowed(Black)           Cooler: CM 212 EVO + NF F12 iPPC

RAM: HyperX Fury 1600MHZ CL10 2x4GB      Storage: Samsung 850 EVO(250GB) + WD Red(2TB)      PSU: Corsair RM750 (and no, it hasn't blown up!)

MoBo: Asus Maximus VII Ranger                      Graphics: MSI GTX 970 TwinFrozr (1494MHZ Core)       OS: Windows 10 Enterprise
