Hi I'm looking to upgrade my Pc to play CSGO, PUBG, GTA5, ARK survival evolved and some other steam games.

Right now I have a:

CPU- AMD A8-7650k

MB- MSI a78m-e35

GPU- nvidia GTX 960

RAM- 8g DDR3

SSD- I don't have one

Harddrive- 1tb

Power supply- it's an unbranded, I think bronze 800wt

Case- Nzxt phantom 240

Im looking to spend enough money to where I can play all the games listed on good setting with good frames, unlike the 30fps minecraft looking version I play on now. Also looking to move the Intel, but if that increases the price then I can stay with amd.

I have about 1200-1800 usd to work with, I have moved my pc from one case to another and I'm confident I can build/upgrade the pc my self I just need some help with the specs :)

If you want to spend less, you can change the GPU to a 1080, 1070, Vega 64 or Vega 56; remove the CPU cooler, and just use the stock one; change the CPU to the 1600, or get a cheaper case.

If you want to switch to Intel, you can change the CPU to the 7700K, and the motherboard to a Z270 board. The cost should stay roughly the same. Alternatively, wait for Coffee Lake to release, some time in ~October.

Do you only game with your pc?

Judging by your game list though, Intel is probably a better choice.

If you're willing to wait a little more though, Intel *probably* will be out with Coffee Lake by the end of October. It should be the same price as the 7700k while giving you 50% more cores.

Why a 1700 for gaming? 1600 or 7700k would be better choice.

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

what is your monitor resolution or any wish to have new one? building the system will depend on that mostly.

With that kind of budget, you can really build a whole PC. The only parts I would reuse would be the HDD, and possibly case. Not knowing which PSU it is makes reusing it a bit sketchy.

Ok cool. Do you think keeping the GPU (960) would be a goood idea?

I will probably buy a 144hz monitor.

Normally I recommend Ryzen for its price to performance & exceptional multi tasking ability.but in your case its different. if its 1080p 144hz then you might be okay with ryzen 7 1700 but intel 7700k is kind of better frame rate pusher though. Worth mentioning that if you wait a while til coffeelake is released this month or next month, you will be fully content with coffee lake purchase. its not a good time to buy existing intel cpus right now. yet if you cant wait , want to upgrade now, take a look at this article & decide which side you will pick..rest of components will be very easy to pick up after.
