you'll have to buy new brackets from your coolers manufacturer, most manufacturers offer the bracket for free but you have to pay for shipping

No - you will need an adapter for then - Check EKWB they have a viable solution for that now!

A lot do, but some you might have to contact the manufacturer of the cooler and get a mounting bracket for AM4.

Currently focusing on my video game collection.

It doesn't matter what you play games on, just play good games you enjoy.

Just got the NZXT Kraken X62 . It was AM4 ready, Great cooler by the way. All  Kraken with a 02 at end of part number have Am4 bracket in the box.

It depends on the board, actually.

I know my motherboard has the mounting holes for both AM3 and AM4, but you need to have the AM3 back plate.

So if the cooler has a custom back plate, it's do-able.

The Hyper 212 has one, doesn't it?

I wasn't able to get mine to fit, but the way the standoffs for the cooler mount, you can easily make your own. Just take the am4 bracket, lay it on a piece of metal or something, than then cut/drill to make it the same size. I got lazy with mine and just did the top and then used nylon washers on the bottom.

Oh and also make use if you used metal you cover it with something so nothing gets shorted.

Also oh, if you don't care about the am4 bracket, just peel the plastic off it and it should be good enough I think.
