I'm thinking of putting the secondary graphics card in my system (dual reference RX 480) in a vertical configuration. I have a Phanteks Enthoo Pro, which is a pretty roomy case. I wouldn't need to have the I/O of the second card accessible, since it's in crossfire. The first graphics card would stay in a standard pcie slot. Has anyone tried anything similar? Any tips or things I should know?

Neither my graphics cards nor the case have any warranty.

As long as the second car is in a 3.0 slot, and your CPU is rated with enough lanes to do so, i dont see any problems

The system is already up and running with both cards in their normal positions. I'm just not sure how I'm going to mount the second card, and where I'll mount it. Most vertical GPU mounts take up all the pcie slots, which obviously doesn't work that well when there's another graphics card in the mix.

The mounting is flexible, though, since I don't need to access the card I/O. I'm also open to modifying or removing the graphics card I/O shield/grate thing.

I would flex the extender to the secondary GPUs I/O is facing up towards the top of the case, directly behind your first one. I have no idea in hell how you would mount that tho
