I will be diving in to a new pc build for gaming and I was wondering if I could get any suggestions on my current part list. My budget is $1000 with Windows and a monitor, preferably 60Hz. I would prefer 16GB of ram, but 8 gb will be enough for most games, I can always upgrade later. I am wanting an i7 and 1060, but I think that is a little bit unrealistic unless I do 8 GB of RAM for my price point. So I think an i5 and 1060 would be better because it would allow me to get 16GB of RAM. I would also like a SSD+HDD combo, but I am willing to just have one of the two right now. The whole point of me building a PC is so that I can upgrade in the future. I will not be looking to overclock, so I will not need an overclockable motherboard, but it would be fine if it were overclockable just for the upgradibility in the future. Last thing I promise, but the monitor that I want needs to be 1080p, 60Hz. I couldn't care about the response time because I am not very competitive, but I would like it to be a decent monitor. Any suggestions on that aspect of the build would be great!

Thanks,

Andrew

Anyway, my current part list:

*The reason I made it under $800 is so that you guys could interchange some of the parts and have a little bit more freedom.

Thanks for your suggestion. I will consider a Ryzen build, but I would prefer Intel because I am more familiar with it. I like that you put in the 1060 6GB instead of 3GB. Otherwise, thanks!

Don't get an i5 unless you wait for Coffee Lake.

Really nice 1440p monitor. Nice SSD, add an HDD when you have some more money. For GPU, grab a used GTX 970 or GTX 980, 1060s are still pretty over priced. Grab an R5 1600 instead of the 1400 if you want.
