I'm about to buy audio technica ath m50x's and was wondering for the $200-$300 AUD price range if they are the right choice I've heard people say they have too much bass, and others say the sound staging is awful. A lot of people have said they're perfect and praised them. I would love to hear peoples thoughts on them (yes I've seen the m40x's and was not fond on them)

I'm also stuck choosing between a USB audio interface and was wondering which one would provide the best sound quality (for my headphones and audio technica at2035 mic)

I'm leaning towards the 4 channel mixer but would love to hear which is better and why, help is very much appreciated.

I can sadly not comment on either but the same applies for any gear in the audio chain. A lot is subjective but some things are objectively better like noise levels. Sadly I can not comment on those specifically.

if you want soundstage and have a quiet environment an open pair of headphones is usually better. What are you using headphones for, mixing, game audio, music/movie?  What have you listened to that you like? Same thing with mixer, do you need only one input, or are u mixing multiple sources, plan for future upgrade?

M50X will have zero soundstage. They're a very forward, bass heavy headphone that is actually terrible for mixing. I also wouldn't use them for anything that resembles classical in any way. Honestly, I don't even think they're worth buying.

Hey! New SIgnature!

If you have a quiet environment go with an open pair like philips shp9500 or audio technica ath 500/700/900 series or dt880. For a closed set look at the dt 770. These are just ideas, do your own research and try to find somewhere to listen to or borrow or has a good return policy.

For closed in that price range look at the Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 or the Beyer DT770. the MSR7 will be fairly neutral, with decent soundstage for closed and portable with a detachable cable. The DT770 will have great sub bass similar soundstage to the MSR7 and V-shaped so not the best for mixing. Also the DT770 is not portable with a long attached cable and high impedance. I owned the M50x before I knew much for the error of my ways. At the time I liked them and they after adding other headphones to my collection I found the problems with them. They don't have any sound stage and the imaging is meh. They are very v-shaped except the highs lack detail and there wasn't much bass but what bass they had bled into the mids for me.

Thankyou all for the help, I decided to go with ath msr7gm, I just don't know which mixer out of the 2 now to use.

Same questions, what is your use case(single mic/instrument), price range, need eq/mixing?
