I have a Nikon Coolpix L330 which is good but rather outdated as it only films in 720p 30fps. It has 26x optical zoom but when filming the 720p lets it down. Is there a new camera like it with 20 megapixels (or more) and 26x (or more) optical zoom which can film in 1080p and maybe 60fps but 30 is fine. Thanks in advance!

What is your current budget?

I'd recommend this, but it's definitely steep for the price.

id say £300 is my highest budget. That camera is good but it needs 26x optical zoom or higher and that only has 2x. This is the new version of my curent camera which looks good so maybe i'll get that. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikon-Coolpix-Digital-Compact-Camera/dp/B01C672SZ4/ref=dp_ob_title_ce

Looks good but I would only get it if it has a lens with 26x optical zoom or more and the stock one is only 3.3x

Are you taking mostly daytime photography? I'm wondering because you're only considering superzooms. They're generally quite limited at this price point. The DMC-FZ82 may work for you (300 odd quid through Argos) if you can stay at ISO 800 or lower.

I will be mainly using it for aircraft photography (at airshows and other plane spotting) and some odd night shots which my current camera really struggles with. Chances are I will get the Nikon Coolpix B500 or the Sony DSCH400 as they seem to fit my needs

1.dont go for a bridge camera

2. what you are talking about is the wrojg way to look for the magnification for lack of a better expression of a lens.

instead, look for the cheapest 70-300 tier lens that offers a form of OIS from Canon, nikon, sigma or tamron. once you find one in the used market, look for a cheap crop sensor dslr that can be bought used with the remainder of your budget. There are many drawbacks to bridge cameras which I'd rather not get into atm since Im on my phone, but this approach is far better for a limited budget such as yours.

This is exactly what you should do. My mom and I bought a Sony DSC H300 for my dad's birthday a few years back and it takes quite some fiddling to get pictures to turn out well seeing as the viewfinders are both digital and very slow. Overall a very "meh" camera, which is not ok for the price. The delay between the shutter release button and actuation is also abysmal, and I would highly recommend against the Sony for that reason, pictures of airplanes or anything moving fast will not look as good as they could.

I use a Nikon d5300

Advantages:

GPS

wifi

remote for taking photos

can shoot 1080p up to 60 frames per second when the format is changed from PAL to NTSC video mode

Disadvantages

has limits like1080p 60p high quality shoots only for 10 minutes and then you have to press record again

the mic isn't really good
