MKV to MP4 Conversion?

Hey guys!

 

So having a bit of an issue with converting some MKV files over to MP4 (need to in order to use with Plex - doesnt seem to support MKV files). I have tried VLC and Handbrake, but none seem to work properly. When I go through handbrake, they say no chapters are found, which means it won't let me scan and encode the file. Handbrake does allow it to work, but only audio comes through when converting to MP4 H/264. Any ideas anyone?

Download MeGUI ... in the menu, it has an option called HD Streams Extractor... that allows you to extract the raw video stream and the audio stream - optionally, you can tell it to convert the audio from some weird formats like Atmos 7.1 or Dolby 5.1 DTS to something more simple like AAC or AC3

Then from the same menus you have Muxer or MP4 muxer ... you select the raw video stream and the audio stream and hit Mux and you got your MP4 file.

Note that the default install is basic.

As you run the app for the first time, it will pop some Update window... let it update and take what it needs from the internet. 

Also, the first time you're going to use those features it may again launch that update and retrieve the packages / tools it needs. For example, you want to extract tracks from mkv files, it may launch it's update tool to  retrieve mkvtoolnix, a package that allows it to mux tracks into mkv files, or extract tracks from mkv

If you choose to convert the audio tracks to other formats, it may retrieve eac3to, an audio decoder and encoder package.

and so on...

 

Basically, let the application do it's update or auto update thing, don't hit cancel on it.
