Hi, this is my first attempt to build a gaming pc. I'll plan on playing in 2560x1440 or a little bit lower in 144hz or around, and some video editing (only light task work) and some heavy programming.

I'm in canada, so my budget is around 2500$CAD to 2800$CAD (considering price fluctuation and etc).

I've tried to make everything compatible (as much as i know everything should be ok, but i would prefer to not have a 900$ paperweight ;) ).

Except for the monitor, i have all the peripherals i need.

So here's the list : https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/user/Olaeradrik/saved/w6bvVn

Or :

Component        Selection                                                                                         Price
CPU                  AMD - Ryzen 5 1600 3.2GHz 6-Core Processor                             $259.99
Motherboard     Asus - PRIME B350-PLUS ATX AM4 Motherboard                         $116.50
Memory            G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory    $179.99
Storage            Samsung - 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" Solid State Drive              $114.99

Seagate -        BarraCuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive                          $55.25
Video Card      MSI - GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11GB GAMING X Video Card             $990.99
Case               Corsair - SPEC-ALPHA (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case              $97.99
Power Supply    EVGA - 750W ATX Power Supply                                                  $79.99

Monitor           Acer - Predator XB1 27.0" 2560x1440 165Hz Monitor                      $830.99

Total:$2726.68 at the moment

For the case the case i know it's not the optimal choice but i love the design :) and for the CPU cooler i think i'll just go with the stock one ;)

Feel free to emit critics and proposition, that would really help me out.

Thanks for reading and spending some time ;) (and sorry for my english).

Are you sure you want to spend that much on the PC? Besides that, everything is pretty good, but do you think you would consider a Ryzen 7 cpu?

I suggest this monitor:

https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/c298TW/asus-monitor-mg279q

1440p 144hz IPS Panel

Good for gaming/Video Editing

As for @thegreengamers said a 1700 would probably be better

My suggestion:

I would definitely change the PSU. The Seasonic Focus Plus Gold 550W costs $10 more, and is miles better than the one you've chosen.

For $20 more you can get a 2TB HDD if you feel like it.

You can change the monitor to the Dell S2716DG, which costs $50 less, and has identical specs otherwise. Unlike the MG279Q suggested above, it does have G-sync.

Tbh, for 144 Hz gaming, the 7700K is better than Ryzen, although it would be more expensive. The option is waiting for Coffee Lake Some time in October.

System looks fine otherwise

I wouldn't pair a 1600 with a 1080Ti... I'd personally go 8700k once it drops, but In respect the Ryzen choice.... I'd just go 7 instead of 5.

An R7 won't make any difference over an R5. They perform pretty much the same in terms of gaming performance.

That Monitor is FreeSync though so not ideal for an Nvidia GPU.

This AOC Monitor has an IPS panel and is still G-Sync.

Thanks a lot guys ! i really liked the AOC monitor (thanks to @lee32uk) so i think i'm going with that as well as the evga supernova 750W semi modular (thanks to @Gungpae), but for the rysen 7 i'm pretty sure i won't get use to it, i mean it's a bit overkill for gaming and coding, anyway here's the "final" build :

Don't get the EVGA Supernova NEX, that thing is really bad for the price. Even 450W is plenty, so just get the Seasonic Focus Plus 550W

:)
