Upgrading RAM Personal Gaming Rig

Go to solution Solved by ARikozuM,

Buying 2x4GB would be better unless you're doing some serious editing like CAD or video editing.

Hello, I would like to hear some input on my situation. Right now I have a motherboard that has 4 DDR3 RAM slots, and at the moment I have a 2x4gb RAM setup. I would like to upgrade to 16gb RAM from 8gb. which option would be better, buying another set of the same RAM to get the 16gb, or buying two brand new 2x8gb RAM sticks?

The RAM sticks I am using now are: https://www.amazon.com/Avexir-Channel-240-Pin-Desktop-AVD3U16001104G-2CW/dp/B00J6LGHW4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1504232927&sr=8-2&keywords=pc+ram+avexir

Well, sadly from what I can see, the RAM sticks I have are out of stock everywhere I look, so I am probably gonna have to buy 2x8gb RAM sticks.

I am seeing now if the RAM will be restocked
