Wifi not working on my moms laptop

My mom had a Dell Inspiron 14 5000 Series laptop and some time ago the wifi stopped working. She gave it to my cousin to fix but he wasnt able to so he gave her a usb wifi adapter. I needed to move my pc out of my room today which left me without ethernet so I took the USB wifi adapter but my mom isnt happy about it. How can I fix that wifi issue? Ive gone to dell support and they suggest going to device manager then network adapters and tweaking them. The thing is I only see one adapter "Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller" and not adapters that are in the support page (Dell Wireless WLAN Card and "Double-tap or double-click the planet_edited-1.jpg Intel WiFI, Wireless or Centrino icon"). That made me search the drivers, install them and check if the adapters showed after that but they didnt. I also tried the troubleshoot but it seems to think the computer only has ethernet and wants to be plugged via ethernet. Maybe I didnt install the proper drivers but I think it might be a hardware issue. I need help.

I had a problem similar to this on my old laptop and I fixed it by disabling the adapter and enabling it. But if it is not showing up in device manager, it is probably a hardware issue.

so my hands are tied? Im currently updating the bios hahaha, Im desperate.

Have you taken the card out and put it back in?

no,I dont want to open the laptop cause I wouldnt know what to do to be honest. I built my pc but I dont want to mess with the laptops hardware, if thats the issue I'll tell my mom to keep using the usb adapter

I got it to show some WAN adapters but it still doesnt have wifi.

Well, reseating the card is something you should do. It should just be under a door.
