ELEX ...good? Bad? Ugly?

While it's slated for release in October, 2017, I'm suprised by the lack of hype or buzz about it. Gemeranx did a spot on it. These guys (destructoid!?)  did a brief review of a beta (I'm assuming). Jay on Gameranx compared it to Fallout (?). I'm looking for a game with the same quality as THE WITCHER 3. Too much to ask? I have a hundred bucks in Xbox money that I'd like to burn on a worthy RPG.

 

What are forum members thoughts about it?

Is it an indie dev or something? Because that might explain the lack of PR/Hype train.

It's made by Piranha Bytes, the studio that made Gothic and Risen, and published by THQ Nordic. So I'd say you could call it a indie game, depending on your definition, but it's certainly far from AAA.

Who isn't looking for a game with the quality of the Witcher 3? My guess is that it won't reach the Witcher 3, certainly not in terms of polish, but it might be still somewhat enjoyable. But well, the studio has made Gothic, so maybe this game is gonna be as great. I think before the game is out it is hard to recommend it.

And btw Gameranx isn't what I would consider a good source for Reviews or anything like that.

I'm looking forward to it. Gothic 3 and Risen 1 and 2 didn't blow me away, and I haven't yet played Risen 3, but Gothic 1 and 2 are a couple of the greatest PC games made, IMO. ELEX looks different, and the new Gamescom footage looks better than the earlier footage they released. The animations have improved, and the world detail is looking really nice.

They made Gothic 1+2 which count to the best RPGs ever made. I will give it a try.

Meh. I try to use several different commentators... and try to find a mid-ground in the commentary.  I also hit the forums & snoop around.

 

Re: Witcher3. I know. I know. I'm setting my sights really high.  It was a fantastic package... that even my non-gaming wife could appreciate (music, CD soundtrack, smooth hack & slash movements, fleshed out side-quests). If I can't find W3 quality, I'll just keep replaying it...
