So I have  8 GB in my system right now, which is fine for other games, but when I play GTA5 online and have discord and spotify open the same time it stutters. So i want to add more RAM. my current system has crucial ballistix 2x4 1600 MHz ram, can I add a 2x2 GB stick to total 12 GB? the 2x2 set is 1333 MHz. Would i run into issues? Could I also do this long term. I really don't want to buy RAM because its $60 for another 8GB and $120 for 16 GB which is crazy. I'm perfectly fine running my RAM at 1333 MHz since it doesn't make a huge impact. Thanks!

I think it will work but your ram speed will be limited to the mhz of the slowest one... so you´ll effectively have 12gb of 1333mhz RAM. You already addressed this so you shouldnt have other problems. Just check if the ram has a guarantee if it doesn´t work in your system.

Yes but there might be a specific way to install them, check your motherboard manual. Dual channel memory means two pairs of slots (4 total).  You might need both channels to have the same capacity, so you'd pair a 4GB and 2GB stick in each channel.  The motherboard should automatically set them to the same speeds.

I mixed and matched my RAM with 2 4Gb sticks from different companies and then overclocked them both to combat the slow speeds, so you could potentially do that as well
