Hi,

Suddenly a thing came across my mind...9_9What if I use a separate PSU for the GPU;)?
So, I will be using two PSU.one for the whole PC & one for the GPU:D.

Is this possible:ph34r:????

totally possible and has been done and documented already

you can even buy cheap little boards that allow you to switch on the extra PSU in sync with the main PSU - no more paper clips

but cramming a 2nd full size PSU into the case still looks weird so FSP came up with another idea: a PSU that fits into a 5.25" bay dedicated to powering graphics cards

Yes it's possible, but why?

Actually, I have one PSU. But, VEGA Would need much more watt to run. So, I would get a new low Watt PSU & use it for the PC & the present PSU will be used for VEGA...

Why not just get one better PSU to power everything? That would be a lot less likely to fail and cause issues.

Yes, but you could sell the current one you have and get something that's going to be a lot more reliable.

Please explain it more technically. I'm willing to do it...

in normal operation, a PSU is connected to the mainboard with at least the 24 pin ATX connector. it will not turn on without a mainboard connected because there is a wire in this 24 pin connector that needs to be shorted to ground to make the PSU start up.

the mainboard does the shorting when you boot your computer and keeps it in that state until you shut it down.

if you add a 2nd power supply to your system there is no second 24 pin connector on the mainboard so no way to tell the 2nd PSU when to turn on or off.

you CAN short this wire to ground manually but it would mean that the 2nd PSU would be always on even if the PC itself is off - you would have to turn the 2nd psu on or off by hand wich is inconvenient as hell

that little board in the picture takes care of that - it can sense the main PSUs power state and switch the 2nd PSU on or off accordingly

As said it can be done but it would not be worth the effort or hassle, you would be better off with a large power PSU for the system as a whole than to get two mediocre units and use a power adapter to jump start the second unit.

It works fine, but I wouldn't recommend it for an everyday rig.

me neither. not only does it look ghetto as fuck, it can also become a problem when one PSU detects a critical failure and shuts down but the other one didn't get the memo and keeps the system powered.

I already fried a mainboard because a GPU i had on a different PSU decided to die mid flight but the main PSU didn't know something was wrong and kept everything else running as if nothing happened. POOF ...
