Litecoin Mining with a GPU

I have an R9 290 (nox-x) gpu that I use to play BF4 and other games for around an hour a day. In February I plan on getting a second one for c-fire. I know that the amount of coins you get is dependent on the hashrate, and the 290 is about 770, which lends to 100+ litecoins a year. My question is, if I wanted to mine litecoin, would I have to choose between gaming or mining? Or could I just litecoin mine when not gaming?

Generally it's either game or mine.

You can actually litecoin mine WHILE you game if you turn down the thread count of the miner. Although you will have to run your games at low graphics and expect some frame drops. It is simple as turning the miner on or off once you set it up.

I'm pretty sure that you can.
