Ryzen 1700x overclock

Hello everyone.

Wondering what overclock people have managed with the 1700x? I can get 3.9GHz at 1.4v and 4GHz requires too much voltage. Curious what other people have achieved with the same CPU....

Thanks,

Thank you,

Quite a few people pushing similar voltage as me to get 3.9GHz. Also people using a lot less to get 4GHz and above. But I guess that's just the silicon lottery! Oh well :-)

That ^.

1800X, 1700, 1700X, £300 mobo, £100 mobo, doesn't matter. It's all up to that bloody lottery. Will a £300 motherboard push 4.0ghz instead of 3.9ghz on a cheap £80 motherboard ? Yes most likely, and cool the VRMs better while at it too. But you are paying for that luxury. Also, is 100 hz worth £200+ ? To some yes, to most no. Once again, you can have the most expensive set up in the world but if your chip is unlucky, gg.

I can get a stable 3.9GHz  only if I leave memory no faster than 2666Mhz.  Or I can go stock clock Cpu and  Memory to 3200Mhz with 13-14-13-13-24 timings.
Both ways I used the link below and the chip down volts and the clock falls to 2.2GHz at idle which is pretty cool.
I used Amd recommended  Cpu offset voltage of  + 0.0250  instead of the voltage in the link .
I know you was not asking how but changing the P State really did work and the boost is better than the stock way they do it.

Thanks,

I'm currently at 4.0 GHz, at 1.38v, stable on 1700x. Trying to push a bit past 4, but not getting much further. Gonna try playing with voltage more later. Current load temps are mid 60s.

1700x, with MSI X370 CARBON Pro, Corsair LPX 3000, but running 2993 on AXMP 2. Cooling with H100i v2.

Edit: fixed voltage

I get similar temps at 3.9GHz 1.4v. I might have a little tinker and try and get to 3.95GHz. I think that is the highest "safe" overclock I can get with this chip and board. Probably not worth it but I might have a go.

3.8v for a 4.o GHz overclock? I think you lost the lottery! :-)

Gigabyte just told me it's completely safe to use 1.5v on my motherboard and cpu. Go figure.

Of course, would they tell you "dont overclock you will blow up the VRMs". If you blow up, they think youll buy another and give them more monies

I haven't had any problems with VRMs. You are obsessed dude But then so am I! :-)

Update: I am now at 39.25 MHz with 1.440v. Maximum overclock possible. I have calculated that 39.50 MHz will take at least 1.464v. and I reckon 4 GHz would need over 1.5v. Shame as the temps are under 80c on stability tests. I'll stop my tinkering for now though I think :-)

1.44V is way too much for normal use, your VRM will fry inside.
