AMD A10-9700?

Hello,

I recently spotted a new DESKTOP CPU from AMD, the AMD A10-9700 (link to local store: https://www.skroutz.gr/s/12627757/AMD-A10-9700-Box.html

I Googled about it and I did not find anything related to this CPU, other than a review of a prebuilt HP desktop containing it?

Does someone from here own it? And I want to suggest to LTT to do a video on this CPU so we can learn more about it!

Thanks

Uhoh, look out for all the anti-APUists coming storming in here to helpfully alert you and impart to you their everlasting knowledge of how APUs are stupid and useless over a nice cup of coffee. They have their places; but their places are small (both the anti-APUists and the APUs themselves).

Join the Appleitionist cause! See spoiler below for answers to common questions that shouldn't be common!

Spoiler

Q: Do I have a virus?!
A: If you didn't click a sketchy email, haven't left your computer physically open to attack, haven't downloaded anything sketchy/free, know that your software hasn't been exploited in a new hack, then the answer is: probably not.

Q: What email/VPN should I use?
A: Proton mail and VPN are the best for email and VPNs respectively. (They're free in a good way)

Q: How can I stay anonymous on the (deep/dark) webzz???....

A: By learning how to de-anonymize everyone else; if you can do that, then you know what to do for yourself.

Q: What Linux distro is best for x y z?

A: Lubuntu for things with little processing power, Ubuntu for normal PCs, and if you need to do anything else then it's best if you do the research yourself.

Q: Why is my Linux giving me x y z error?

A: Have you not googled it? Are you sure StackOverflow doesn't have an answer? Does the error tell you what's wrong? If the answer is no to all of those, message me.

Have you tried AMD?

http://products.amd.com/en-gb/search/APU/AMD-PRO-A-Series-Processors/AMD-PRO-A-Series-A10-APU-for-Desktops/7th-Gen-AMD-PRO-A10-9700-APU/214

:P

Is an Excavator+ APU, basically the latest improvement on AMD's APUs that was brought to AM4 instead of FM2+. This family as a whole delivers slightly higher performance than its Excavator counterparts (A10-7850k and the like), while using substantially less power (or at least lower TDP at same clocks), supporting DDR4, etc.

Basically, LTT will not care about it, or anything not Zen-based. Also, while a couple of months old in the retail market, it has been in the OEM market for longer.
