The Msi gtx 1070 has a 8pin connector socket and a 6pin connector socket whereas my PSU only has a 6+2(8) pin connector.

Will the GPU be able to run on a 8pin connector and if so will there be any performance impacts for not using both the 6 pin and 8pin connector?

Also, will this cause any problems with overclocking?

You use the 6+2 to make an 8 ping connector. Join the 6+2 together..

EDIT: Nope, it won't work you need to use both 8+6. Which PSU do you have?

I'd say that it's not possible to run it on just the 8 pin connector, as it will not be supplied with enough power to run correctly.

The manufacturer put those connector for a reason.

Yes you MUST put both connectors or don't use the GPU at all, its so simple
