Raspberry pi Newer models?

So. I've got a 2 RPi3's and they are great, but due to the power limit, they only have 100Mbps nic. I was wondering, in the future. The newer models should have USB 3.1 or even thunderbolt? So we can better NICs such as gigabit and overall better CPUs?

Thunderbolt requires an Intel CPU so that won't happen.

Gigabit NIC or a PoE powered RPi would be nice though

What about USB 3.1? Still needs an Intel CPU?

Shouldn't need Intel for that but the cost would be pretty high for those ports

i don't know when there will be a new version of the pi and what future versions will have improved. tried my crystal ball but it threw a bluescreen

 

if you want a more powerful single board computer you can just buy one.

the raspberry isn't the only thing out there, you know?

 

a few ARM based boards:

 

asus tinkerboard

banana pi

orange pi

lemaker hikey

pine a64

 

tiny single board computers with x86 intel CPU are also a thing:

 

latte panda

udoo x86

 

most of these alternatives have way better I/O options than the raspi

 

gigabit ethernet is very common, so is eMMC onboard storage and the x68 boards sometimes come full featured with usb 3, SATA, m.2 or what
