Internal sd card reader not working

Laptop - toshiba satellite l50 b 235
windows 8.1
I already installed the realtek card reader driver and it's still not working.

Did the driver show up in Device Manager? Sometime even if the driver are installed the device won't show up in Device Manager or get some kind of errors.

Did the card shows up in Disk Management? And have you tried with other card or even other adapter?

It doesn't show up at all i used two different sd cards one has a adapter and the other is just a plain sd card

Try to uninstall the current driver and install the one available at Windows Update, if still won't work I am afraid that it was hardware issue.

okay i'll try doing that. but my sd card was working before when i bought it i had windows 8 then updated to windows 8.1 still works but then i updated to windows 10 and it doesn't work anymore, so i reformatted the laptop back to 8.1.

Did going back to 8.1 make the SD reader work?

Sounds like a hardware issue then. The connector could have come loose, but I doubt it. You've not dropped or knocked the laptop recently? Or spilled anything on it?

Nope i haven't dropped it, also the laptop has only been sitting on my table for 3 months i think because the battery wasn't charging so i had to get a replacement.

Well then, if it's only been 3 months (I'm assuming you bought it 3 months ago) is it still under warranty? might be worth going down that route.
