hello I recently built a new computer with a r7 1700 rx 470 8gb and a h60 from corsair along with a asus rog motherboard and 16gb of gskill rgb ram and a basic evga 750 watt power supply which is not modular and is basic 80 plus. the problem is when running stress tests like fur mark the temps stay stable but eventually the computer will shut off for no apparent reason. I dont know what to do

The computer is most likely shutting off from reaching unsafe operating temperatures. The H60 is not ideal for cooling the CPU since it is a single fan cooler. The rule of thumb is when you are using an AIO cooler, it's better to use 240 -360mm coolers for higher performance CPU's since the smaller ones can't dissipate enough heat quickly.

@Hiitchy  how is this so as the temperatures seem fine and the cooler is rated for am4 operation

It's like this: I have a 7700k overclocked to 5.1GHz. The higher the clock and the more an application demands of your CPU cores, the higher the temperature will be. A single fan cooler can't keep up with the temperature demand of a high end CPU unless it is on idle and only on idle due to not having enough fins to dissipate heat under load. Essentially, even if you add another fan, it still won't be enough.

It can match the socket, all that means it matches the socket, that has nothing to do with cooling performance. The bigger a radiator is, and the more fins it has, the better chance it has to dissipate more heat.

In theory, if I ran a stress test on my 7700k using AIDA64, I would get temperatures in the 67-70 degree Celsius range. If I used an H60, the temperatures would most likely be anywhere from 90-95 before it reaches T-junction and starts thermal throttling to save itself.

@Hiitchy   the temps under a stress test are around 55- 60 degrees max with the gpu resting around 70

Furmark stresses the GPU mainly.

If your system is shutting down, this is a sign typically caused by overheating.

Even though your GPU is showing ~70*C, have you checked the temperatures for the VRMs or Memory on the video card?

Your GPU core may be at 70*C, but your card's VRM could be 105*C+.
