Difference between HDD/SSD/SSHD

Go to solution Solved by Guest,

Will this help:

So i need a source where i can read more about hard drives and differences between each type. I found a couple of links on google but they are not giving as much info as i need. I need to dig deep and understand how each type work and what makes one faster than the other.

There's not much to it. HDDs are mechanical drives which use spinning platters, SSDs are nand flash and SSHDs are just mechanical drives with about 8GB of flash storage acting like cache.

SSD for fast boot and launching.

HDD for general storage and less demanding games.

Hybrid drives if you're in a budget (can't afford an SSD in high capacity) or want a slightly faster storage solution over standard hard drives.

HDD = slowest / cheapest ($/GB).

SSHD = Still slow / cheaper than SSD ($/GB).

SSD = Fast / not so cheap ($/GB).

All in all, if budget allows always aim to have a SSD in your systems so it boots / response / load faster. A lot of people is buying SSD (small capacity like 128GB) as boot drive plus a few frequent program / application / games. Then a HDD (bigger capacity like 1TB or 2TB) for mass storage.

I have a SSD and a HDD and i know which is faster but i need more info for an article that im currently making.

HDD's are spinning drives that read and write data to a disk. HDD's are generally used for high capacity storage. SSD's are drives that dont use mechanical parts to read and write data, instead, they are drives that are generally used for fast booting times and having a smoother experience when using your pc.

Don't forget the good'ole Wikipedia. . . and not for the info but for the listed resources. They will START to point you in the right direction. You need to learn HOW to research if you will be writing articles. Community forums are for quick answers to immediate problems from people who have had similar problems. And everyone will tell you to NOT rely 100% on the information, but take it in context. The people here want to help the community, but any information here cannot be used as a reference for published material.

It most likely isn't your fault, the schools are just not teaching basic skills anymore. (Like critical thinking. . . )
