May be you heared that, Linus using The Intel Xeon procrssors; E5-2699 v4 to update his severs? But why not to wating few months to using Xeon Scalable processor Platinum?

AND your guys must be know, in calculate biility, the xeon scalable processor is much better than the Xeon "E" familiy processor. i think to chose xeon scalable processor is a better choice.

If this is something for the company, then upgrading to or waiting for the latest and greatest isn't always the best thing to do. Get what you know works and is well within your requirements first.

Linus in regard to the hardware that keeps hier company running doesnt go for "bleeding" edge hardware. the bleed in this case are bugs and other things that make the hardware unreliable. That is why Linus gets hardware that was the best 1 gen old. bugs and things are gone and the tech proofed it self.

besides its Intel knowing them you only missing 5% performance improvement compared to last gen.
