So I was selling a phone case for $10 on eBay and someone offered $20. So I accepted it but the buyer wants to give me an extra $150 to buy him iTunes gift cards since he is a "soldier in a camp"

I of course said that I was not comfortable with doing this but the case is still for sale for the original $10 asking price. If he continues I will cancel the sale.

With this happening I was also wondering what the legal implications be for me just keeping the extra $150. I am only selling the phone case, as far as I and eBay are concerned if you trust me with $150 thats on you.

I couldn't keep the 150 with good conscience.

I wouldn't ask a stranger to buy me $150 worth of gift cards either.

That $150 is stolen money and it will most likely be removed from your account, if they ever send it in the first place.

I had someone try something similar where they sent a very convincing, but fake, email "from" PayPal saying money was in my account.

The buyer has since not responded. I'm considering canceling the sale outright.

It's along the lines of someone who sent me a check for 3x the price for computer repairs and said "cash it and send me the extra money". I knew it was fishy and later found out the check was stolen, I never cashed it of course. Had I cashed it I would have lost all the money plus the money I sent them.

Just report them :)
