Hi, a few years ago i purchased this netgeat Switch to give me more ethernet ports but we just had a bad storm go by and i shut everything off to prevent damage if there was any.  well once i got everything back on i noticed something was making a kind of noise and i noticed that it was my switch.  i decided to take it apart to have a look and to see why.  As i thought i have buldging caps.

You could likely replace them. If they're soldered to the surface, then it's a little more difficult, but if they're soldered through the PCB and poking out the other side, then it's pretty simple.

Just get a few capacitors of the same spec and swap them out. Take note of the orientation they're in so you don't put them in backwards.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

save yourself the hassle and buy another. OR upgrade it for a little extra so this problem doesn't happen again

i dont have a lot of money and i want to take a cheap route if possible. plus i like messing with electronics to see if i can fix them.

You could try and replace. I'd do it partially just to do it and partially so I can use it.
