Hi, guys,

I am having the following problem:

A month ago I upgraded my CPU from an i5 4440 to an i7 4770. I have an EVGA GTX 1070 6GB and, before the upgrade, everything worked flawlessly. However, after upgrading the CPU, my rig started rebooting everytime I try to enter a game or watch a video (and sometimes just navigating through Windows) . At first, I thought it could be the PSU (Corsair CX600) , but I tried my cousin's RX380 and it presented no problem. My GPU also worked perfectly in his rig. I already did a clean install of Windows with the most recent drivers, updated the motherboard's BIOS,  and the problem persisted. The rest of my rig's spec is as follows:

- Motherboard: Asus B85M-E/BR

- RAM: 2 X 8GB Kingston (1600)

- SSD: Kingston a400 240GB

It looks like some kind of CPU/GTX1060 incompatibility.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me.

That's not a thing.

any CPU is compatible with any GPU (in theory) if they both have PCI-e

There is no CPU GPU kind of incompatibility, what do you mean by reinitializing? Does the PC reboot?

Yes, the PC reboots.

open up the event viewer (windows key+s then type in event viewer), expand windows logs, select system. This should have a note for every crash and at least some info on the cause

Yep thats a PSU related problem. Ok at least i'm pretty sure. My friend had the same issue when he had put a new gpu in, every time it was under stress the computer rebooted. Now after doing the calculations it recommends a 500watt psu. I'd always be on the safe side and invest in a maybe 750watt, and I like EVGA for PSU, never had a error. But you can double check me by going to bestbuy or any hardware store and ask to test the psu for any problems.

Did you reset cmos after changing your cpu? May not be the case since you updated bios but may as well give it a shot.

Hi, guys.

Sorry for posting after such a long time.

Here's the deal: I tried all the aforementioned suggestions, but none have worked.

So, I sold my VGA and bought another GTX 1060 from Gigabyte, but the PC keeps rebooting at random times.

I am currently using my cousing's RX380 and, so far, the PC is running without problems.

This leads me to think that the problem might be a driver conflict-related issue. What do you guys think? Is there a way to isolate and identify this kind of problem?

Thanks in advance.
