I've got a strange bug that showed up yesterday and I can't seem to fix it. I've recently tried opening up eclipse and found that my fans sped up quickly afterward only to stop a minute later and would cycle like this every other minute or so whenever I touched the IDE but whenever I closed it the fans would stop cycling. I'm on Windows 7 64-bit and I just updated my drivers and replaced the thermal paste. I tried rendering a workload intensive animation in Blender as well but it doesn't seem like the fans are going nearly as hard as they are when it is just eclipse. Also, it is only the CPU fan that seems to be the one speeding up. All the others seem to be on the same speed and working just fine. This is a strange bug. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S. https://forum.peppermintos.com/index.php?topic=4542.30 this is a link to the same problem but with Ubuntu. However, because this is a windows issue I can't even try this as installing packages isn't something I even know how to do in Windows and the information online is....sparse and outdated at best.

This, had to use Eclipse for CS1 for Java.  It's fine when it wants to work, but it bugs out a lot.

Me too.

So I did all of my work in IntelliJ, loaded it into Eclipse briefly to make sure it all worked the same there, and gave the eclipse project to the professor.

I understand what you are saying but I WANT to use eclipse.

Interesting, I use Eclipse almost daily without any issue. What version are you trying to use?

I was using Neon and had this issue show up and then I tried oxygen and the same issue happened. Version doesn't seem to matter.

Interesting, I've used Oxygen and Mars on Windows 7 and 8.1 and have never had that issue. Perhaps it's something to do with your hardware or a driver.

I just updated my graphics drivers. I might have to update the bios but I really don't want to do that unless I absolutely have to. I have a laptop I can use in the meantime that doesn't seem to be having these problems but I really want to be able to use my computer for this in the future without gimping its fanspeed.

try running the program in compatibility mode

also open regedit do search for eclipse related entries that pertain to hardware control

or run registry cleaner

uninstall software and do regedit export

install software do regedit export

compare(is a command) the two regedit exports

Only found one entry for eclipse in regedit and it didn't seem to partain to hardware control

Don't use Eclipse. One of my professors forced Eclipsed to be used for Android programming instead of Android Studio, and the entire class hated her. Not only was compatibility for Windows 10 and macOS 10.10 and up hit or miss, it was generally just broken and buggy. It didn't support the latest Android SDKs and would shit itself over SDKs for wearables and Android TV.
