I've contemplated hiring an unpaid/min wage intern, some kid who is super into PC Building and stuff because I do run a small YouTube channel with a few hundred subs that I am horrible at managing.  Luckily I have the funds to buy some higher end Tech and PC components.  My hopes is to maybe get my channel off the ground and make it something more serious where I could actually employ people at good wages and maybe eventually leave my day job.  I just hate the idea of unpaid or low labor pay.  I am so against it, but I don't have much money left after bills, savings, etc as I generally profit 50-150 on PC builds I sell after I am done working with said technology.

Do it as a side job. The tech space of YouTube is so over saturated right now, I don't see how you'll get a piece that'll make ends meet on its own.

I've been doing this off and on for a few years.  I recently decided to upload weekly sometimes more.  I hit 200k views on my channel after launching only a few months ago.  My focus is around Budget PC Gaming and I live stream to help answer PC building questions.  I have a different approach, but I feel like I am too inconsistent week over week.  I went 2-3 weeks without a video recently.  I don't plan on quitting anytime soon lol.

Well the best I can recommend is looking at smaller channels as a benchmark. I get the feeling you want to be the next Linus Sebastian but for budget gaming (which is what many of the other big names do as well). Seeing how competitive the Tech YouTube space is and how you don't have much money left over after bills, etc., I can't imagine this being a good gamble.

Maxxarcade is a great example to look up towards. He doesn't upload much anymore, nor is it consistent, but he still manages to keep 21k subscribers. His content goes in depth with the circuitry aspect of electronics with his repair videos and gambles about cheap electronics (his cheap PSU rants are good). He also does computer builds and they seem much more interesting than ones from Linus or Austin Evans as it's not planned out like a tutorial. It's just a dude, building a system, and rambling as he goes.

Nope, I had that shot in 2012 but decided not to go that route.  I want to build my audience and help people.  That is what I am all about.  My point was maybe have some young kid help out with my channel a bit.  That's all lol.

If your channel is "not off the ground" yet, I would highly advise against hiring anyone. Keep working at it until you can afford to actually pay someone a good wage for what they are doing.

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

Might wanna consult your state's labor laws for how unpaid internships can work legally.  It's usually a lot more complicated than 'Convince some kid to work for me for free', at least if you don't want to break labor laws. D:
