MY FIRST BUILD!!!

Hellooooooooo techies, 

 

I am stepping forth into the world of PC construction. Having spent the past week watching JayzTwoCents, Bitwit, Science Studio, etc. etc. and ofc Linus Tech Tips, I am about to take my first stab at building a PC. I've been convinced by the Ryzen processors and fancy the 1600 because as well I like to use CAD software. I don't have that much money now but want the option to upgrade down the line. I still don't know precisely whihc monitor I want but I want to be able to game at at least 1080p at plus 60Hz so looking at 144Hz monitors but I also love to watch films from my bed (it has a direct line of sight to my monitor which will be on a desk at the end of my bed) so I hear that IPS>TN in terms of colour quality. Sooooooo I am looking at saving on my GPU for now by going for a 1050 ti and then getting an upgrade in maybe a year or two. Any and all advice appreciated!

 

tl;dr - want to game, watch films in great quality and do a bit of CAD. Ryzen 5 1600 and 1050ti.

Looks like a good build to me. I'll wait for UK peeps to recommend you a monitor though, since I'm in the US.

Seems like a solid build but here are some things I would change:

 

Don't get an M.2 SSD, get a normal sata one.

Get windows 10 from kinguin for like $25 (Or the equivalent in pounds)

Are you sure you need 2 TB?

Get a 1x8GB stick instead of 2x4 stick

If the GPU is going to be replaced soon then get one used. There are quite some people who bought 1050ti as a placeholder for future GPU upgrade, so you can easily find one with plenty of warranty left at a good price.

And EVGA's warranty sticks with the card, not the original owner, so try and get one of those.

This also varies with retailers. The retailer I bought from has the warranty following the sticker on the box and label on the card. Warranty is only effective if I have both the box and card with matching serial numbers. I have heard that some stores have warranties following the receipt of purchase which has the serial no. of the card printed. Make sure you check that with the seller before you make the deal

Depends on their condition. If it still has more than 3 years of warranty then I'll offer 100 pounds. These 1050ti sellers are usually aiming for an upgrade to 1070 or higher level, so cutting the price to 100 pounds (which is about 75% of a new one) seemed fine.

Build looks good, only thing I might suggest is get 16gb RAM instead and also get windows from kinguin.net or just use windows without an key (you just can't customize a few things).

The SSD is basically a sata drive stuck in m.2 form factor, if OP wants to pay an extra 1.31 pounds so they don't have to deal with cables then hey, not my choice

Also Jurrunio massive props for telling me about Kinguin, never looked on there for Windows that just saved me £60!
