Best web host?

I'm looking for a web host. My budget is around $5/month, and I would like at least 100GB storage and unlimited bandwidth. Bonus points for a free domain name. Currently looking at Inmotion and bizht but what would you recommend?

My recommendations wouldn't fit your needs, but I highly suggest NOT letting your web host be your registrar also. Pick up the domain name from an ICANN accredited registrar (like Namecheap or GoDaddy) and manage it yourself. I've seen too many people that have had their domains held hostage until they paid hundreds of dollars in fees to move it to another web host. Just don't do it, pay the $10/year for the domain yourself and have the freedom to switch web hosts if the one you're with starts to go down hill.

Ok. Would something like domains.google work for the registar?

I've never used them before so I can't comment on how good or bad they are, but the are ICANN accredited and they're Google so it's worth a try.

For your requirements of 100GB and "unlimited" bandwidth, I don't even know which ones are worth taking a gamble on anymore since they're all basically badly oversold and under supported. I always point people to BuyShared for hosting, but don't bother looking there unless you want realistic specs and pricing.

I haven't used any other web host except BuyShared in years. What kind of website do you plan on hosting? A blog? Static site? Forum?

A static sites with a lot of videos and images. My parents have used Inmotion before and it's pretty good so I've considered that.

If you want to host it for free what I would do is upload the videos to YouTube, upload the images to a image hosting site, and host the pages on GitHub. This way all you need to pay for is the domain.

The only unknown would be the image hosting site but YouTube and GitHub are extremely reliable.

How would this work? I know how to embed YouTube and Flickr images, but how would this GitHub set up work?

GitHub allows one website per account (GitHub Pages), just create an account and setup the GitHub Pages then upload your HTML files there. I believe they have a guide on getting your own domain working with their service.
