Hey ltt community,

 

i recntly got a kraken x62 cooler for my ryzen pcu and i used ic diamond as a thermal grease but at loads of 30% or higher my cpu hits 80-90 degrees and i checked the thermal grease, pump and fans and they all work perfectly any ideas?

 

(it is not overclocked in any way}

Did you take the plastic off of the baseplate?

 

I know you said you checked the paste, but if you're not 100% sure, check again. That's usually the problem.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

yes i have removed the cover (it didnt come with one )

Are you sure it didn't? You might want to check.

 

Also make sure that it's mounted securely enough.

 

Did you plug in the pump and fans?

it cames with pre applied paste i wiped off with isopropyl 70% and everything is plugged in

NZXT Cam should give you a reading of the water temperatures, is it also hot?

This would indeed indicate a bad mount, please confirm you are using the AM4 bracket and that you have cranked down the cooler onto the CPU in a criss-cross pattern to ensure even mounting pressure.

 

Other than that make sure you have enough thermal paste, application method does not matter as long as it is not too little.

 

Photos of the following could be helpful if you still need more help:

-Screenshot of HWmonitor when your system is under load

-Photo of your system

-Photo of the CPU with the cooler removed to see how the thermal paste is spread

-Photo of the cooler side of the same to make sure there is sufficient contact
