I used to love in the early 2000s to take snaps with my 2.5mps Coolpics point and shoot camera but never could invest in an expensive camera. Today at a yard sale I found a pretty nice looking Canon. I was impressed by its claimed 10 mps for $15 including a prosumer grade 150 foot rated water resistant case(I guess for scuba). When I got home I found out that it was from 2006 and shots at 3.6k res! I've attached some photos as a sample but they are out of focus because I never learned how to shoot in manual. Is this camera worth learning how to use or is it so old that everything has changed?

Note: my favorite photo style is landscape but I took macros to show detail quality.

its pretty nice but in the future, save up for some budget DSLR or mirrorless like Axxxx series or D3xxx series

Yeah, I just started at a new job that pays well so once I have my nest egg, I'll start investing. Would you say this is a good camera to learn how to use manual mode, adjusting Iso, focal length and other things like that or leave it in auto?

@OP, ignore this idiotic comment.

So you picked up an old Canon Powershot camera for $15?  Not a bad deal if it's still in working condition and YES you can use it to learn a bit about photography.  Photography is about creating the image, not about whether you have cheap or expensive gear.  You can use it to learn about composing a scene, learning how shutter speed, ISO and a little bit of how aperture/f-stop relates to each other and works and you can also learn about white balance.  You don't need a DSLR to start learning, you just need to have the desire to learn.  You also don't need to shoot in manual, since the camera comes with Program, Aperture Priority (Av) and Shutter Priority (Tv) modes, you can also use those.

Later when you think you've outgrown the camera, figure out your next step.
