From what I've seen they've fallen victim to the rise in popularity of AIO coolers. 

Despite the better potential temps that you might get from a Peltier, an AIO is more convenient, requires no configuration, and keeps most of the heat removal capability. Plus there are a significant number to choose from.

Yeah, i remember reading up about them back in the day. The biggest problem a lot of people had was condensation. You could get temps of -50 F. or something ridiculous like that, but the frost would melt and would run onto the boards with the potential of shorting out the system. The AIO's can't get the same type of cooling, but has none of the condensation drawbacks while keeping them relatively cool.
