Yo.

So it finally happened, they are all here, Ryzen, Threadripper, Vega, the whole shebang. Cool.

Now, I'm moving countries soon and I'm not bringing my monitors because they're over 10 years old.

I was gonna pick up a G-Sync one because I'm also about to upgrade my GTX970, but now this Vega aqua package is too good to pass up!

Might as well switch back to a new motherboard, CPU, because to bring the PC over, I'm gonna dismantle it and get a new case over there anyway.

What do you guys think, is it worth it to go for the package and get a FREESYNC monitor instead?
I'm kinda disappointed they don't offer the packages with threadripper (I want that because I edit video).
Or should I just get the GPU+Monitor?
My current PC parts are in my sig, of course.

Also, what's the difference between the currently for sale Frontier edition Vega GPUs and the ones in these packages?
The frontier one is just the GPU and it's $1000, WTF

Not really worth the package with how much shipping they charge, you loose the value of the deal lol. And yes Vega FE is the "workstation" card with a gaming mode lol

More like the titan X versus the 1080 ti, just a cut down chip with slight better performance, but in this case the 64 Will be about a 1080 punch for punch.  (16 GB HBM2 vs 8) and a few different changes to be seen.

I kiiiind of doubt that you'll be doing so much video editing that an 1800x won't be able to handle it ;)

The packs are all right if you really want that specific set of parts. Personally, the discount is only so so for me. I mean $100 off the mobo/CPU, yes...but you're restricted to the top tier Ryzen, and the highest end motherboards. Same with the 34" Sammy monitor. If it was able to be used on lower SKUs, I'd be more interested.

I wouldn't get anything below top tier anyway (because if I don't do that, I should just stay with what I have then).

And are you SURE about the editing? What if I tell you I'm trying to move up to 100% 4k, color grading, after effects renders and all the shenanigans?

It's not so much about whether it handles it or not, it's about the downtime waiting for renders...

I currently use a Mac Pro trashcan for editing. But it's quite old (2012).

Selling it should pay for the PC upgrade, so I'm seeing how I should spend that $ :-)

But wait... do you HAVE to get the samsung monitor with that pack? I thought it said "A FreeSync Monitor"...
