Ultrawide + 16:9 Questions

So, Soon I will be getting an ultrawide monitor  (2560x1080) but I would keep my current 1080p 16:9 monitor.

Will I be able to run both of them at once without any issues?

Could I play a game on the ultrawide and have discord/youtube on the 16:9?

Could I play games with the ultrawide and 16:9 running like a normal dual monitor display?

Yes. I have an ASUS PG348Q (3440x1440) flanked by an Acer XB271HU (2560x1440) and it works flawlessly

You might need to optimise some settings, like using borderless windowed for games to make it easier to switch between both screens during gaming for example.

You'll be just fine. I currently run a 2560x1440p 144hz G-sync with a 2560x1080p 60hz (used to run a 4k/60 with the 2560x1440p) without any issues. I'll typically play on my 1440p and have a hardware monitor, discord, and Steam chats running on my 2560x1080p without any issues.

Having issues with a Corsair AIO? Possible fix here:

Are you getting weird fan behavior, speed fluctuations, and/or other issues with Link?

Are you running AIDA64, HWinfo, CAM, or HWmonitor? (ASUS suite & other monitoring software often have the same issue.)

Corsair Link has problems with some monitoring software so you may have to change some settings to get them to work smoothly.

-For AIDA64: First make sure you have the newest update installed, then, go to Preferences>Stability and make sure the "Corsair Link sensor support" box is checked and make sure the "Asetek LC sensor support" box is UNchecked.

-For HWinfo: manually disable all monitoring of the AIO sensors/components.

-For others: Disable any monitoring of Corsair AIO sensors.

That should fix the fan issue for some Corsair AIOs (H80i GT/v2, H110i GTX/H115i, H100i GTX and others made by Asetek). The problem is bad coding in Link that fights for AIO control with other programs. You can test if this worked by setting the fan speed in Link to 100%, if it doesn't fluctuate you are set and can change the curve to whatever. If that doesn't work or you're still having other issues then you probably still have a monitoring software interfering with the AIO/Link communications, find what it is and disable it.

Windows assumes the monitors all have the same DPI so if they aren't close you may see weird alignments. I think you can customize it in the Nvidia control panel though, not sure. You can also scale DPI so things don't look super small in 4k.

 

No issues with running G-sync on one and not on the other, Windows handles it fine.
