Hello guys,

My Windows 10 suddenly gone from my PC and I have to install it back, you know.. the "Reboot and select proper boot drive" or something page.

My computer was fine until I left it from work, I shut it down like usual and leave.

During lunch break, I went back to my home and turn it on, and then the reboot and blablabla page pop up.

I don't have any problem to install Windows 10 again on my PC, but..

I only have 1 Windows 10 key which I already used for this PC, can I use it again?

Does anyone know how this could happen? I am really curious.

Thanks before.

EDIT: Suddenly I can't use my keyboard and mouse during the installation page, the very first page.

I tried to use another keyboard and mouse, they all end up the same.

Yes, you can use it again.

I'm not too sure what happened, it's possible that something corrupted when you shut it down, but without knowing if anyone messed with it while you were away, it's hard to tell.

Thank you for your information. I will try to use it again after I fix the keyboard and mouse problem.

Yeah maybe corrupted.. I live alone, no way someone was messing with my PC.

1) usually if your computer randomly asks you to "select proper boot device" that means your hard drive (or SSD) is failing or has failed. your BIOS is attempting to boot from whatever drives it can find, but if there's no other OS drives or any other drives at all in the system, this is the error you'll get.

2) if the windows 10 key is either an OEM key (came with the system) or a RETAIL key, then yes, you should be able to reinstall windows 10 without a key and it will simply re-activate on the SAME motherboard (if OEM) or you can enter the key (if RETAIL) on new hardware.

3) again, this can happen if you have a failing boot drive, or in rare cases, if your motherboard / BIOS is corrupted. to check your motherboard / BIOS, you can simply perform a CMOS Clear / reset as per the instructions in your motherboard manual.

4) if your keyboard and mouse are locking up during the installer, try unplugging all internal hard drives from your motherboard, just for shits and giggles. obviously now no drives will show up in the windows installer, but if it stops freezing, you'll know FOR SURE that its a failing drive. if it still freeze however, then it's more than likely a failing motherboard, poorly applied thermal paste on your CPU causing overheating, or a bad power supply.
