Apparently he talked his mom into getting a new PC, with a mediumish budget.

I tried to keep the possible build as cheap as possible while still being viable for 2-3 years:

  • CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 1600 3.20GHz AM4 box
  • MBO - ASROCK AB350M Pro4 mATX
  • GPU - ASUS DUAL-GTX1060-O6G GeForce GTX 1060 6GB GDDR5 PCIE
  • PSU - BE QUIET! Straight Power 10 500W CM
  • Case - FRACTAL DESIGN Define mini C
  • RAM - G.SKILL 16GB Trident Z DDR4 3200MHz CL16 kit.F4-3200C16D-16GTZB
  • CPU Cooler - NOCTUA NH-U12S SE-AM4
  • Storage - SAMSUNG 250GB 960 EVO M.2 PCIe 2280 MZ-V6E250BW

I think it's a pretty solid build, appropriate for all kinds of purposes. And it's small and quiet.

However, I'm not sure about the RAM, if it doesn't work at that frequency then it's wasted money, since obviously lower frequency RAM is cheaper.

Everything you see on that list is from  a single store, so location is not relevant. This is the cheapest store there is.

In my country this build would cost 1500USD, 25% of that is stolen by the state through the banditry of taxation.

What store? I can make a better build.

What I've found online is that it should run pretty well with DDR4-3200 memory, since that's where Ryzen excels. Looks like a pretty solid build to me, it should definitely last a few years before getting outdated.

Yeah. Also when you are needing a CPU upgrade, this platform will be supported for 4 years.

No, I use aggregate search to find the cheapest components.

The  only possible way to make this build cheaper is to order from a foreign store in a country where the government steals the least, and then by some miracle avoid the cost of shipment, import fees and taxes. It would probably cost even more then.

such a capitalist

Anyways, I'm talking about some parts that would make the build slightly more expensive, but I would highly recommend it. Where is the aggregate search.

What modifications would you make?

P.S.

It's not a matter of being a capitalist, but a matter of not using monopolized violent force to steal from people in order to offer subpar services, which would be cheaper and of higher quality on the free market -  including education, healthcare and roads.

Yeah, quote me next time. I would change the PSU, and is there any cheaper DDR4 3000 or DDR4 3200 RAM? Also the SSD.
