Building a pc in coming months and was considering if intel 8th gen was worth waiting for. I have heard they are being announced at gamescom later in the month but have not yet heard when you will actually be able to buy them.

does anybody know of specs, pricing etc?

thanks

Intel isnt stupid. They will probably come out with something crazy to compete with AMDs ryzen to power.

Aaaand that's where you're wrong. While AMD has been making stuff that is great for the consumer (cough, cough, Ryzen 5, cough, cough) Intel has been making big mistakes, and refreshing the same stuff over and over, while not really making enough change to justify their prices.

If you can wait "comfortably" till the end of the month then do it. Rumors indicate that we'll know more after gamescon, but keep in mind that "knowing more" does not necessarily mean "are able to purchase anything" and even if it could very well be that the new CPUs from Intel are a bit weaker in games then the current king the 7700k since they might use the new grid structure.

That begin said, nobody can tell you with 100% certainty that it is worth to wait. All dates and performance improvements are currently purely based on "industry rumor". There is a good chance you'll wait a month and then buy a Ryzen CPU anyways because it's the best option for you.
