Ok, so I am looking at getting a new setup in a few months for gaming and a bit of video editing. I also like to go to lan parties and do a bit of traveling.

But To The point, I am stuck between Getting the Asus Zephyrus or an i7 1080ti build and just getting an XPS 15 or equivalent for travel/lan. It would be cheaper to just go with the zephyrus and just daisychain 3 1440p monitors off the TB3 port.  And It would give me moah powah everywhere i be. But I would like the full power if an i7-7700k with a GTX 1080ti when I return to my home base, and the Display of the XPS(id opt for the 1080p model)

NOTES:

I don't need the 120Hz Panel of the Zephyrus

I play Minecraft, VR, Rocket League, and Who's your daddy at max settings.

I Record gameplay with OBS studio and would do It here at 1440p60.

I currently Edit with DR14 but will probs upgrade to the CC suite.

i can DONGL3LYF3 so IDC about ports.

I might go to Europe next year so I will need to not get bored on the plane ride lol.

I can answer most questions.

go for a ryzen 1600 or 1700+ 1080ti

so from a portability standpoint, would a Zephyrus be able to do this, or at least 1080p60?

XPS+desktop hands down.  The Zephyrus isn't worth it in my opinion-sure its light and has roughly the same amount of performance as an overclocked 1070, but it offers no expandability whatsoever.

I only Need 16 Gigs of ram and im not sure what else you should upgrade, plus im kinda on a budget, and im leaning toward the zephyrus

Ehh.  Mobile CPUs are not nearly as good as their desktop counterparts at recording gameplay.

I have a friend who can Record 1080p60 with his 6700HQ just fine

EDIT: While my 6700 fails miserably

What is your budget? The point is, you can upgrade your desktop down the road and you cannot upgrade the Zephyrus down the road.
