An Intel optane memory question

Go to solution Solved by rn8686,

Will only work on Z270 or X299, nothing you can do about it, not very useful in its current form for drive cache for consumers though (May well be when you can finally buy proper drives).

Hello forums,

So right now I'm planning on buying an i7-6850k, currently, I have an i7-6800k. Long story short I'm getting it really cheap. I've been hearing a lot of buzz about the Optane memory and I know it requires a 7th gen processor, but I was wondering if there was any work arounds or if the tech just isn't there yet and I should hold off anyway.  Or if there was another module I could use for the same effect, I have a free MVNe (m.2) slot if that helps.

Thanks

the fuck are you on about?

just few days ago made a system with H170 board that accepted Optane

I meant more out of the box without a BIOS update, but either way requires a 7th Gen processor so not applicable to OP.
